Child Psychotherapy and Family Counselling focuses on your family's emotional wellbeing. Psychotherapy or counselling with a child involves building a relationship through talking, play or the use of art materials. I provide a space to help your child express themselves, to help resolve issues concerning them. It is special time to think about life, to talk about growing up, about what happens at school, with friends and about what it is like to be them.
In parent-child sessions, I provide a space for you and your child to think about your relationship with my support.
Sessions are for 50 minutes, once or twice a week in a confidential, comfortable and safe setting. I modify the sessions to the needs of each individual.
Therapy can help children and parents with anxieties that are arresting emotional growth and disrupting the pleasure in relationships. Very often when children and parents are helped by a skilled practitioner to find ways to make their feelings understood, their symptoms subside.
Sometimes deeper changes are needed and the work can take longer to help a child or adolescent grow, heal or find themselves.
