I am an Integrative Child Psychotherapist with an MA in Child Psychotherapy (IATE), a certificate in Counselling Skills, a Foundation in Art Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapy and Counselling Supervision. Earlier in my life, my interest in understanding humans through observing started with BAs in Fine Art (Byam Shaw School of Art) and History of Art (Cambridge University). Currently, I combine models of psychotherapy including psychodynamic, humanistic, art and  play therapies. With young children in particular, I encourage the use of the arts as a way to express and explore their feelings.

I have worked as a School Counsellor for 12 years, as a Child Psychotherapist in private practice for over 15 years as well as an art therapy therapy group facilitator in schools and a supervisor on a child psychotherapy MA training. I have particular interests in early parent-infant relationships. as well as social, cultural and ethnic differences in parenting and identity forming and welcome dialogue around these issues. I enjoy working with adopted children and their families, having done so for over 10 years through Achieving for Children and Adopt London South helping families access my services through the Adoption and Special Guardian Support Fund.

With a passion for supporting children and families' emotional wellbeing, I have previous experience working with children and parents in nurseries, for Sure Start, in schools, and with learning disabilities. I have also completed a 6 month psychiatric placement in the NHS.

I work to the Code of Ethics set out by IATE (The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education) my training college and my registering body, the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

Some considerations

Fees

I charge £90 for a 50-minute session before 5pm and £105 from 5pm onwards.

For those that have a low income, there may be the possibility of a reduced fee.

Duration

A single session is 50 minutes long. Sessions are normally once a week, but may be twice or three times a week, depending on the need.

Assessment

After meeting parents, I recommend   six sessions with a child to assess the presenting issues and whether we can work together
